120 Years of Renault – Renault 4 Parisienne (1967)
The Renault 4 was a great success, but the French company wanted to amplify it further, focusing above all on the female drivers, which has always been watched with an eye of attention. Thus a collaboration with ELLE magazine was born and the “She Gets Behind The Wheel” column had the task of explaining to its readers – female readers of course – that the 4 Parisienne was specifically designed for them.
Characterized by tartan pattern, in green and black, the Parisienne was easily distinguishable thanks to the “wickerwork” motifs on the sides, while also the cabin was a more cared environment, dedicated to making the new drivers feel at ease. The engine was a small but effective 845cc 4-cylinder with 34-hp and combined with a 4-speed manual transmission. The weight, always very low, was just over 500kg (570kg to be exact) and this gave the R4 the ability to move with ease and be used easily in city traffic, as on country roads.
