BMW iX: Their First 100% Electric SUV | News
The way to electrification is no longer a secret. Nowadays all car makers spend resources and time developing models that can finally make 100% electric cars usable on a daily basis. And while infrastructures try in every way to keep pace with a constantly growing market, BMW underlines how much intends to be one of the reference points for those who identify themselves in this segment, unveiling its all-electric first SUV, or SAV, simply called iX.
The shapes are those of a big SUV with a sporty line, with five doors and ample space for passengers and luggage. At the front, the double kidney grille stands out, an authentic trademark that defines the brand, although it is present only for aesthetic reasons, since there is no engine that needs air, but two electric units connected to a high voltage battery. The system will develop over 500 hp, allowing the iX to go from 0 to 100 kph in 5 seconds and thus offering driving dynamics in perfect BMW style. The cabin features clean lines and a enormous display that spans more than half the dashboard.
From the point of view of efficiency, the iX – having a battery of about 100 kWh – should score an average range of about 600 km, an extremely valid number, especially taking into account the size of the vehicle. An important aspect is also the fast charging available up to 200 kW, with the battery that can be recharged from 10% to 80% in under 40 minutes. Welcome to the future!
