IED Syrma
300-HP FOR EACH OCCUPANT
Unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the Syrma, conceived by the IED (European Institute of Design) has marveled for its futuristic lines, high performance and originality of some details. The design is the work obtained by the students of the Master in Transportation Design, organized by the IED, which have resulted in flowing lines and aerodynamics: a body carved in the air and characterized by a set of sinuous lines and soft topped by a cabin where the drop-like windshield seems to perform a function of protective shield for the occupants. The measurements of the prototype say: length 4.73 m, width 1.98, height 1.15. The output of its 900-hp is provided by a hybrid “power unit” composed by two engines: a twin-turbo 4.0 V6 and an electrical one; together, they ensure to ground torque through the rear wheels only. The Syrma wants to represent the future, without denying the past: do you remember the legendary McLaren F1 of ‘90s (if not, you better check our latest issue)? The IED creature, for its interior, pay homage to the iconic F1 which provided three seats with the driver’s seat at the center and in a more advanced position than the other two. A solution that allows the driver to be in the main spot and enjoy the best visibility possible.
